October 12: Palliative Care Day
World Hospice and Palliative Care Day 2024 is celebrated today, October 12, under the theme “Ten Years Since the Resolution: How Are We Doing?”. This theme commemorates the 2014 WHO resolution that urged countries to integrate palliative care into their health systems. Although progress has been made, only 12% of global needs are being met, with a significant disparity between high and low-income countries. The campaign aims to hold health sectors accountable and improve global access to palliative care.
