OUTSTANDING PARTICIPATION IN THE SECPAL 2024 CONGRESS
The SECPAL 2024 Congress, held from October 17th to 19th in Málaga, has concluded with an excellent outcome for our team. We are very proud to have actively contributed through various presentations and round tables, all focused on advancing the field of Palliative Care.

One of the highlights was the recognition awarded to PhD student Raquel Ibáñez, who received the 1st Prize in the Master’s Final Project category for her presentation titled: “Viewing audiovisual content as a therapeutic tool for patients in healthcare settings.” This well-deserved award reflects her dedication and the innovative nature of her work.

In addition, our team presented the following highly relevant communications:
- Goni-Fusté B.: Development of the revised version of the clinical guide for multidimensional assessment of needs in palliative care (MAP-R).
- Ibáñez R., Sigaud P., Rodríguez-Prat A.: The therapeutic potential of viewing audiovisual fiction in patients at the end of life: an integrative systematic review.
- Goni-Fusté B., Rodríguez-Prat A., Julià-Torres J., Monforte-Royo C.: Analysis of euthanasia provision in Europe in 2022.
- García-Salanova A., Rodríguez-Prat A., Monforte-Royo C.: Talking about death with palliative care patients: integrative systematic review.
We also coordinated a round table titled “The desire to hasten death (DHD) in patients with advanced illness,” where two team presentations were delivered:
- Andrea Rodríguez: First year of euthanasia: a global review.
- Joaquim Julià: Evaluation of the outcomes of an online course on managing DHD.
Finally, Joaquim Julià delivered the Plenary Session on the Multidisciplinary assessment of needs in palliative care.

At the SECPAL 2024 Congress, we also had the opportunity to host a stand to introduce participants to the activities of the WeCare Chair. Among the highlights were the Master’s Degree in Palliative Care and our upcoming 11th International Workshop, titled “Responding to the Desire to Die.” We appreciate everyone who visited our stand to learn more about our educational initiatives and to build new collaborative relationships.
