The WeCare Chair of the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona) announces the 8th edition of the course “Desire to Hasten Death (DAM): Assessment and Response”, a training programme aimed at health and psychosocial professionals who wish to understand and address the desire to die from an interdisciplinary and humanistic perspective.
Building on the experience of previous editions, this course offers a comprehensive approach that integrates clinical knowledge, ethical reflection, and communication tools for professional practice.
The 8th edition will take place from April 15 to July 15, 2026, and will include live sessions with renowned experts such as Dr. Cristina Monforte-Royo, Dr. Quim Julià, Dr. Alberto Alonso, Dr. Marina Martínez, Dr. Miguel Ángel Cuervo, and Dr. Jaime Boceta, among others.
The programme is structured into eight modules that address key topics such as:
- Epidemiology, etiology, and risk factors related to the desire to hasten death.
- Clinical assessment and responses to DAM.
- Ethical, anthropological, and legal considerations.
- The family’s perspective and experience.
- Professional self-care and emotional well-being.
