Cristina Monforte, Director of the WeCare Chair, took an active part in the 12th Argentine Congress of Palliative Care (SL25), an event of international significance held from 5 to 8 November at the Caja de los Trebejos Auditorium, organised by the Argentine Association of Medicine and Palliative Care (AAMYCP).
Dr. Monforte participated in the inaugural Plenary Conference, entitled “New Bioethical Challenges for Decision-Making in Our Time”, where she addressed the ethical dilemmas arising in contemporary clinical practice and the need to promote shared, person-centred decision-making.
She was also part of the second day’s Plenary Conference, “Quality Research in the Clinical Context of Palliative Care”, where she highlighted the importance of generating solid scientific evidence to contribute to the continuous improvement of palliative care and the development of health policies based on quality and equity.
During the third day, Dr. Monforte also took part in an Expert Meeting, where she discussed current challenges in training and leadership within interdisciplinary palliative care teams, sharing her academic and clinical experience with colleagues from different countries.
Finally, she led the workshop “Desire to Hasten Death”, together with Dr. Silvina Dulitzky and Lic. Psi. María Luz Gómez, which offered reflections on the ethical, psychological, and clinical aspects surrounding one of the most sensitive topics in end-of-life care.
Dr. Monforte’s participation reaffirms the UIC Chair of Palliative Care’s commitment to promoting comprehensive, humanised, and evidence-based care, as well as its role as an academic and professional reference at the international level.
