Last June 2nd and 3rd, the WeCare Chair participated in the Congress of the Catalan-Balearic Society of Palliative Care in the city of Igualada, which brought together authorities, experts and professionals in the field of health care.
The event began with a plenary table with the participation of representatives of the authorities and the presidencies of the Committees and the Catalan Society of Palliative Care (SCBCP). During the course of the day, various sessions were held that addressed a wide range of relevant topics in the field of Palliative Care. Among them were:
- The self-care of professionals.
- The impact of the media and social networks on patients and professionals.
- Euthanasia
- New technologies in palliative care
- Decision-making tools in advanced stages of dementia
- Palliative care in residential centers
- Pediatric palliative care
On Saturday, June 3, the congress continued with additional sessions focusing on “Innovations in pain management” and “Tools for end-of-life support: can we prevent complicated grief?”. During the afternoon, the closing of the event took place, during which prizes were awarded and the SCBCP presidency and organizing committees participated.
The WeCare Chair contributed the following communication: “Assessment and Response to the Wish to Advance Death” ERDAM training improves the skills of professionals to address DAM.
The Palliative Care Congress in Igualada proved to be a space for the exchange of knowledge and ideas, promoting continuous improvement in the field of end-of-life care. The diversity of topics addressed reflects the growing importance and relevance of palliative care in today’s society.
