On May 3, the 2nd Palliative Care Conference of La Rioja was held at the San Pedro University Hospital in Logroño. The conference is the meeting point for Palliative Care in the community of La Rioja and was inaugurated by the Regional Minister of Health of the autonomous government, María Martín. The co-director of the WeCare Chair, Dr. Joaquim Julià-Torras, participated in the conference with the inaugural conference “Can we all do palliative care? “. In it he reviewed the complexity of the provision of palliative care in today’s society, plagued by a demography with more and more people in advanced chronic disease with palliative needs, increasingly complex care needs and palliative care teams with difficulties to have generational turnover, presence of all disciplines in the multidisciplinary team, among other difficulties.
The conference continued with the round table “Evolution and future challenges in Palliative Care” moderated by Dr. Elia Martinez, president of SECPAL and was completed with various workshops on issues such as the management of dysphagia, communication of bad news, care of the intangible, among other topics.
