For the first time ever, on 17 June, the WeCare Chair organised a course for UIC Barcelona students aimed at fostering tools and communication skills for use in complex clinical situations. The course was divided into two parts: an initial theory part, which laid down the foundations for a good communicative process; and a second part in which participants had the chance to put the tools and communication skills into practice in complex clinical situations, using simulation with actors as a learning method.
This course aims to provide knowledge based on research and clinical practice to students who, in the near future, will be required to deal with these kinds of situations. Training in simulation-based communication helps boost the knowledge of the future healthcare professionals and also gives them guidelines they can apply to real-life situations, like those they may encounter during their placements in hospitals and other healthcare settings.
