In December 2020, the Spanish Parliament approved the processing of the “organic regulation law on euthanasia” on the grounds of avoiding suffering. A law on a complex subject, from multiple perspectives, and the impact of which on health care and people’s lives will probably be considerable.
The aim of the webinar was to report, reflect and discuss some crucial aspects in the attention of people with advanced diseases and the role or consequences of the eventual adoption of the euthanasia regulation law. The event was directed at the university community of the International University of Catalonia and the general public.
We had the following personalities:
Eduardo Bruera, Chief of Palliative Cares MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston) and Professor and FT McGraw Chair in the Treatment of Cancer at the University of Texas (US).
Rogelio Altisent, Vice-President of the Committee on Bioethics of the Spanish WTO
Jaime Boceta, doctor of Palliative Care and Vocal of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Society of Dolor
Christian Villavicencio, Medical Director of Caredoctors
Natalia de Iriarte, Medical Director of the Cuidis UIC Barcelona Clinic
Cristina Monforte, Director of the WeCare Chair
During the live broadcast, we have 950 spectators connected, and it is now available to see on the back.
