The WeCare Chair offers a three-year doctoral scholarship to train researchers in the field of end-of-life mitigation. The aim of the scholarship is to support a doctoral student in conducting research aligned with the interests of the WeCare Chair, focusing specifically on end-of-life suffering.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Having exceeded the requirements of access to the doctoral programme between 1 January 2021 and the date of submission of the application, or between 1 January 2018 and 31 December 2020, in exceptional cases. Exceptional situations include maternity leave, caring for minors of six years, persons with a recognised disability, serious illness or accident with a minimum of six months’ temporary incapacitation, being a victim of gender violence or having refugee status under the 1951 Geneva Convention.
- To be enrolled in a doctoral programme at UIC Barcelona and not to have enjoyed another predoctoral contract for more than 12 months.
- To have an average mark of at least 7.50 in undergraduate studies. In the case of foreign studies, the average mark must be calculated according to the equivalences of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training.
- To be a student of health sciences, social sciences or humanities.
- Not having a doctoral degree.
- Join the WeCare Chair research group.
- The thesis must seek the achievement of the mention of an International Doctorate.
DURATION:
The scholarship lasts three years, without the possibility of extension, and begins counting from the date of incorporation of the training research staff.
The start of the contract at UIC Barcelona will be on 6 November 2023.
For candidates from outside the European Union, the deadline will be extended to 1 February 2024.
ENDOWMENT:
- The annual endowment is paid in 12 months.
- The beneficiary has an 80% discount on the academic tuition fees and deposit and reading the thesis during the validity of the scholarship.
- The beneficiary has priority in the competitive call for predoctoral mobility grants from the Vice-Rectorate for Research, Innovation and Transfer, if the budgetary situation allows.
APPLICATIONS AND DOCUMENTATION:
The interested parties must send the following documentation to wecare@uic.es .
- Photocopy of the application to register for a doctoral programme from UIC Barcelona or a document accrediting the following has been pre-admitted.
- Academic certificate recording the average mark obtained by the candidate in the degrees that give him or her access to the doctorate (graduate and master’s degree). If the candidate does not yet have the official master’s degree final mark, only the bachelor’s degree mark will be taken as a reference for prioritisation.
- Photocopy of the degree and master’s degree.
- Photocopy of the DNI or NIE.
- Application authorization signed by the thesis director.
Optional documentation:
Legal authorisation that allows the contract to be formalised, if applicable, in the case of foreign personnel who already have it.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE
The deadline for submitting applications expires on 8 October 2023.
RESOLUTION
The directors and coordinator of the WeCare Chair will define the assessment criteria for candidates.
The final resolution of candidates will be made on 31 October 2023.
