From 13 to 16 May, the WeCare Chair at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya took part in the European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC) Congress, held in Prague. This international meeting brought together leading professionals, researchers and institutions in the field of palliative care, with the aim of sharing knowledge, experiences and innovative lines of research.
The participation of the WeCare Chair was an opportunity to contribute to the international scientific debate on current challenges in palliative care, as well as to strengthen connections with other groups and institutions from around the world. During the congress, several research projects linked to WeCare and to the Palliative Care Service at the Institut Català d’Oncologia (ICO) Badalona were presented.
The presentations addressed relevant topics such as communication about death and dying with patients and families, simulation-based postgraduate education in palliative care, and other ongoing research initiatives aimed at improving care for people with advanced illnesses.
In addition, the WeCare Chair also participated in the framework of the European RAPHAEL project, funded by the Horizon Europe programme, which focuses on developing and promoting a European model of palliative care for people with heart failure and their families.
Participation in the EAPC Congress reinforced the importance of international collaboration, research, education and professional networks in continuing to improve the quality of palliative care. For the WeCare Chair, this experience is a source of inspiration and an opportunity to turn shared ideas into projects with a real impact on patients, families and professionals.
