Dr. Cristina Monforte was a finalist in the National Nursing Awards. Cristina Monforte is Vice-Rector for Academic Planning at UIC Barcelona and professor in the Department of Nursing at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. She is also director of WeCare: End-of-Life Care Chair and was nominated by the Official College of Nursing of Barcelona (COIB) in the research category.
The National Nursing Awards selected 30 finalists and had as its main objective to recognize the important work of nursing professionals in our society.
The finalists were nominated with the collaboration of 52 provincial nursing associations from all over Spain. The awards were classified into six categories, with five finalists for each category, so that they recognized nursing work in the areas of care, management, teaching and research, in addition to the professional career throughout life.
Dr. Monforte has been vice-rector of Research, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer at the University, director of the Department of Nursing at the Sant Cugat Campus and president and vice-president of the National Conference of Deans of Nursing. In the field of research, she has focused her work on two main lines: care for advanced disease and end of life; and research in nursing within the teaching and applied clinical field. She has been principal investigator in six national and one European project, collaborated in four international books and published 56 articles. In addition, she is a reviewer of numerous first quartile journals and competitive projects of the Spanish Research Assessment Agency and other international agencies.
